Message from the Board of Directors

The board of directors for the WDC regretfully announces the resignation of Amie DeLeavey, former Executive Director of the daycare. Amie’s decision was made for both personal and professional reasons. Although this Board did not have an opportunity to work directly with Amie, she was a valuable member of our team and we wish her all the best in her future endeavours!

We are very pleased to announce that Heather Cochrane has accepted the position of Executive Director (permanent) for the day care. Additionally, we are just as pleased to announce that Sue Spencer has accepted the position of Assistant Director (permanent). These positions are effective immediately, and will work closely with both the board of directors and the staff to ensure the continued success of the daycare.

The HR Committee would like to extend our thanks to all parents, staff and members of the community who offered feedback for our Executive Director evaluations in July. The board cannot operate effectively without communication with both parents and staff. We hope that next year you can expect a similar (but less complicated and easier to complete) survey request as an ongoing means to provide feedback.

As the board does welcome feedback of any kind, please remember you can contact us directly via email at board@stephanies47.sg-host.com or via the daycare’s Facebook page.

Fundraising

Tommy Gun’s has chosen us as their non profit organization for their next Chase the Ace Fundraiser.  This can start at any time, as there are only a few cards left in their current game.  Please pass this info along to your family and friends and come out and support the day care in this exciting new fundraising event – we’ll be sure to announce when it starts.

Our Annual Walk-A-Thon will be held later in September or early October. This year we will do being something different.  We are looking at hosting a family fun fair after the walk-a-thon here at the centre.  This event is still in the planning stages so stay tuned for future updates.

Plans are also underway for the Pumpkin Regatta and parade.  Michael will once again be rowing a giant pumpkin, trying to beat his “first time rower” time from last year! Stay tuned for more information.

We will be participating in the 2 Cute 2 Toss Yard Sale at the Windsor Legion on Sept. 24th.  If you have any children related items you wish to donate to us for the sale, it would be appreciated.  Hope to see you there!

Director’s Message

I am delighted to have been offered the position of Executive Director of the WDC.  Remember that my door is always open, and I will be pleased to assist you any way I can.  I am pleased that Sue has accepted the Assistant Director position.Together we will strive to make the Windsor Day Care Centre a great place for your children to learn and grow!

The fall season is approaching fast and each class will be getting back to their regular programs starting September 6th. With summer almost over, our students will be leaving us on Friday, Aug 26th, to pursue their post-secondary education. At this time, I would like to thank Maria (School Age), Jessica (PreSchool 1), Adrianna (Toddler 2)and Jessica (Toddler 1) for their hard work and dedication demonstrated over the summer.  I know the children and staff will miss them. Good luck in your studies and future endeavours!!!

The fee increase for September is a little lower than you may have anticipated due to the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development implementing a cap of 3% when increasing parent fees, effective August 22, 2016.  This is part of their new child care review, Affordable, Quality Child Care: A Great Place to Grow!

I would like to welcome all the new families to our Centre. Our dedicated teachers provide a great place for your children to grow, make friends and learn new skills every day, while nurturing and caring for your young children! On behalf of the staff, we are all looking forward to another great year!

Be sure to check out our Facebook page and website, www.stephanies47.sg-host.com for all the current and upcoming information about the centre, photos, fundraising events, etc… We would like to fill up the “Testimonials” section of our website. If you could take a couple of minutes to express your family’s experience here at the centre, it would be much appreciated!

Regards,

Heather Cochrane
