Retiring Director’s Message

The fall season is approaching fast and each class will be getting back to their regular programs starting Sept.3rd. On behalf of the staff. we are all looking forward to another great year! With August over, our summer students have left us to pursue their post-secondary education. At this time, I would like to thank Frances and Morgan for their hard work and the dedication demonstrated while they were here.  I know the children and staff will miss them. Good luck in your studies and future pursuits!!!

This will be my last newsletter as director as I will be retiring August 29th and leaving my position as director. I have been at the Windsor Day Care since its beginning on February 2nd, 1976 and worked as director since June 1990. It has been almost 38 years and I will be sad to leave all the wonderful children and parents I have come to know, however, I do hope to come back as a substitute teacher, on occasion, if I am needed. Thanks for all your support and friendship over the years.

Thanks again to all the children, parents and co-workers and board members for all your support and friendship. I will miss you all.

New Director’s Message

I would like to take this time to introduce myself for those of you who have yet to meet me and I you. My name is Amie DeLeavey. I am the new director here at Windsor Daycare Centre.

September is a month of change for us here at the centre. In addition to myself being new, you will notice that our teachers have rotated to different classrooms to allow for an opportunity to grow professionally and experience the demands and challenges of stepping out of their comfort zone. I understand change can sometimes be difficult to adjust to and so we ask for your patience and understanding. I want to assure each of you that our number one priority is the safety, well-being and development of all the children in our care. Amidst the changes, this will continue.

On another note, we are having a walk-a-thon this month as a centre fundraiser and would love to see each of you there. There will be a Bar-B-Q afterwards in celebration.

Another change you will notice is that we are moving to a 4-week rotational menu for the winter. When the end of Spring 2015 approaches, our nutritional planner will be creating another 4-week rotational menu for the summer. The new menus are available on our website and if you’d like a hard copy printed off, I would be more than happy to print one off for you.

I will begin placing invoice receipts on your child’s cubby so that it is easier for each of you and you do not have to wait for me to write you a receipt as pick-up and drop-off times can be hectic. If anyone would prefer a different method, please let me know and I’ll make sure to make other arrangements.

I’m sure there are more items to bring to your attention that I am forgetting at this point, however I will do my best to give each of you advance notice of any future changes that may occur within the centre.

I look forward to working with each one of you for a long time. Please don’t hesitate to contact me at any time if you have questions or concerns, my door is always open.

Yours truly,

Amie DeLeavey, MA(CHYS), BA
