Directors Message:

Finally, warmer weather! As the warm sun is finally here, please ensure that your child has a sunhat and appropriate clothing for the changing weather.

The Annual General Meeting is scheduled to be held at the Day Care on Wednesday, May 25th @ 7:00 pm. I know that the current board is looking for new members, so if you are interested or may know of an individual who could be an asset to the centre then please let me know.

Heather Cochrane

Some of the staff have participated in a two day course, “Mental Health First Aid” here at the centre.

Our Support Teacher, Cassandra Temple had to leave us a little earlier than expected. Lacey Arsenault will replace her temporarily until a replacement staff can be hired. Lacey has just completed her “Orientation” to work within the Centre – Congrats! We will also be looking at replacing Christine as she will be going out on Maternity leave in the next little while also.

There will be new faces around the daycare as we will soon be hiring students and more casuals. Feel free to say hello and ask if you are unsure who the new faces are! Two students from the ECE Program at Kingstec will be joining us as they participate in their practicum experience over a 5 week period.

The Hop-a- thon was a great success and our Centre raised $371.10 for the muscular dystrophy association.

Please let your child’s teacher know if you will be requiring care on May 23rd, Victoria Day so we can make an informed decision as to whether the centre will remain open that day. If the numbers are going to be very low we may close the centre.

Now that the nicer weather is here, the children will be participating in some planting activities within their classrooms as well as outdoors.

Our outdoor play consists of a lot of water and mud activities especially now that the weather is warmer, so it is important that the children have appropriate clothing to stay as dry as possible. Please provide splash pants and rubber boots for them to wear, and expect their outdoor clothing to be a little muddy.

We continue to accumulate quite a pile of lost and found items. Please have a look to see if anything belongs to your child. At the end of each month these items will be donated if they are not taken home. Also, please take some time to clean out and replenish your child’s cubby/supplies weekly.

Thanks to all of you who helped selling the travel voucher tickets. Congratulations to Cathy Crichton, winner of the travel voucher and Chris Rodgers, winner of the 2nd prize who generously donated back $100.00! This fundraiser was a great success raising approx. $2000.00. We did well participating in the 2 Cute 2 Toss Sale at the Windsor Legion on Sat. April 9th. We took in $535.00 between the canteen and clothing/toys sale.

All fundraising event funds will go towards creating a natural playground for the children’s outside play yard this year. We are currently having a working plan developed, defining the play areas as well as to what is required to redo the surface. In the mean time we will be adding “Loose parts” to enhance the children’s outdoor experiences. The “mud kitchen” is a hit so if you have any old pots/pans, larger metal or plastic bowls, spoons etc… that you are not using we can surely put good use to them in our yard.

Fees and Billing

Just a reminder that fees are due on the beginning of each month. Invoices not paid at the beginning of the month, as stated in the parent policy, will be charged late fees of $15.00 and a second late fee charge if not paid by the 20th. I regret that this is necessary, but we rely on parent fees for operational and programming expenses.
