Director’s Message

It is that time of year when we start longing for nice weather and it can’t come fast enough!  We have been very fortunate the last couple of weeks with the spring like temperatures,  hopefully this a sign that Spring is just around the corner.  With the thawing ground our play yard can be very muddy in places,  so please supply your child with the appropriate clothing. Splash pants and rubber boots are ideal when the weather is warm enough and the children do not require being bundled up!  Many of the children enjoy the experience of mud and we need to ensure that they are warm and dry.

Just a reminder that my shift alternates weekly with Sue, our assistant director.  If I am not available, Sue will be happy to assist you.   She can be found in the toddler 2 class.  Our shifts are 630 to 300 and 9 to 530.

New Program

The daycare will be starting a new part time program in September 2016 for 3 to 5 year olds, enabling the day care  to accommodate the large demand for afterschool care. The new program will operate the same as the school year calendar, closing  over  Christmas,  March Break and Summer vacation.  It will be cancelled on all days that schools are closed,  ex.  Storm days, in-service days, holidays, etc..  The program will operate 5 days a week from  9 to 2:00.  It will be at a reduced cost of $23.00 a day, including a snack and lunch.  The class enrollment will be limited at 8 children a session and located upstairs in the Preschool 2 class.  If this program may be of interest to you,  please let me know as we will soon begin advertising and compiling a waiting list for September enrollment.

Hop-a-thon for Muscular Dystrophy

Once again the centre is registered to take part in the Muscular Dystrophy fundraiser,  we are HOPPING on board to raise money for families affected by the neuromuscular disorder. Please help gather sponsors with your child to help make muscles move.  More information will be available soon!

As part of our 40th anniversary, the daycare hopes to raise $40,000 this year, with all proceeds put towards our large play yard.  The committee has a number of great events planned throughout the year and are relying on the cooperation of parents and staff to help reach our goal.

The 1st fundraiser will be selling tickets during the month of March on a $1000.00 travel voucher from Gateway Travel. The second prize will be $500.00 cash.  Tickets will be $20.00 each or 3 for $50.00. Tickets and more info will be available in the coming days.

Fundraising minutes are posted on the parent bulletin board in the main lobby. The next meeting will be Wed. March 9th at 6:00 if you would like to become a part of the fundraising team!  New members and ideas are always welcome!

Message from the Board

Spring is on its way and we are getting ready for it! As we celebrate our 40th Anniversary all year long, keep an eye out because the board and staff have some fantastic fundraisers planned. We’ll be making announcements for projects and events as we go along. You’ve probably seen the yard and especially at this time of year the mud seems to take over everything. Our main concentration this year will be fundraising towards many yard improvements that will make it a brighter, more enjoyable play area for your child.

Please be sure to like and follow the daycare on facebook at And we’re still looking for one or two more folks to join us on the Board; if you have a couple hours each month and would like to help us make 2016 the best year yet, please let Heather know!
