Directors Message

This summer we have had some nice hot weather and let’s hope it continues through August. The staff and children have been taking advantage of the nice warm days and enjoying the great outdoors. I hope everyone is having a good Summer and that you and your family are able to take a little extra time to relax and have some fun!

Reminders to Parents

• Send in a hat, swim gear, and extra clothing every day.
No flip-flops, Please! They are not safe or practical for play. If they like to wear them to Day Care, please provide alternative footwear (sneakers, sandals) for outside play.
• Remember to remove your outdoor shoes
• To call the Centre if your child is going to be absent for any reason.

September Enrolment

September is fast approaching and some of the children will be moving on to new units. Please notify the office in writing if you require a change in the days your child attends. We will do our best to accommodate your needs. Also if your children will be leaving us, remember that 1 month written notice is required.

Klowa (PS1) arranged a visit from Hants Search and Rescue to present the “Hug a Tree Program” for the Preschool and School Age Classes. The children enjoyed the presentation and hopefully shared the information with their families. Thank you, Klowa!

Preschool 1 & 2 children go to pool from 1:00 to 1:30 pm. The school age children go to public swim from 2:00-4:00 pm. The public pool is heated and the children and teachers have been enjoying the swimming experience.
The toddler and infant groups have been enjoying the small wading pools, sprinklers and water tables provided in the play yard for water fun!

There are lots of water activities in the yard so please insure all children have extra clothing here, so they can all enjoy getting cooled off on these hot days!

You may have noticed some new staff recently; they are our summer students. Jessica Taylor and Adrianna Crichton are working in the Toddler classes, Jessica Cooke is in Preschool and Maria Laforce is with the School Age group. All these young ladies are a great help to the staff and children and we will be sorry to see them leave at the end of summer. We hope they enjoy their experience with us and gain some helpful knowledge when they return to their studies in the fall.

Fundraising Committee

From what I’ve heard the Concert was a great event and the bands were great. It’s too bad that the tickets did not sell, but with the donations, sponsors and 50/50 we were not out as much as we could have been if it was cancelled. We suffered a loss of $1313.00. Hopefully our future fundraising project will be more successful and we can make up for the loss!

We plan on having a table during the Street Fair at Avon River Days on Friday, July 29th. Elissa will face paint and we will sell Freezies/water and have a sucker pull. If you may be able to spare an hour or two we could use some volunteers to assist us. You can let me know if you would like to assist.

We are seeking parental volunteers to assist with fundraising projects and sit on the committee if you are able to donate a little of your time . Please let us know if you would be interested in helping out!

Yard Update

We are currently waiting for the design of the play yard to be completed by Stan Kochanoff, Licensed Professional Planner. Once we receive this plan we will be commencing with the development of a natural play yard to enhance the outdoor experience for the children. Hopefully this year we will see the surface of the yard improved along with landscaping, developing and defining play areas and the completion of the play area to remember Nathan.
