The board of directors for the WDC regretfully announces the resignation of Amie DeLeavey, former Executive Director of the daycare. Amie's decision was made for both personal and professional reasons. Although this Board did not have an opportunity to work directly with Amie, she was a valuable member of our team and we wish her all the best in her future endeavours! We are very pleased to announce that Heather Cochrane has accepted the position of Executive Director (permanent) for the day care. Additionally, we are just as pleased to announce that Sue Spencer has accepted the position of Assistant Director (permanent). These positions are effective immediately, and will work closely with both the board of directors and the staff to ensure the continued success of the daycare.
Some Programming Notes - Klowa (PS1) arranged a visit from Hants Search and Rescue to present the "Hug a Tree Program" for the Preschool and School Age Classes. The children enjoyed the presentation and hopefully shared the information with their families. Preschool 1 & 2 children go to pool from 1:00 to 1:30 pm. The school age children go to public swim from 2:00-4:00 pm. The public pool is heated and the children and teachers have been enjoying the swimming experience. The toddler and infant groups have been enjoying the small wading pools, sprinklers and water tables provided in the play yard for water fun!
Now is the time for sun hats, summer footwear and sunglasses! Please avoid flip flops for outside wear. They do not stay on their feet when walking or playing outside, they are unsafe for active play! We provide sunscreen for the children and a small fee has been added to your invoice to help cover the costs. If you provide your child's sunscreen because of allergic reactions or other issues, there will not be a charge. Please let me know if I have charged you by mistake. Also, please LABEL all your child’s belongings!!
As you may know, former student Nathan LeBlanc, who passed away suddenly this spring, had Dravet Syndrome. June 23 is the third annual Dravet Syndrome Awareness Day. Our centre will hold a charity drive, Dimes for Dravet, for the month of June. There will be a donation jar in our lobby for any loose change you wish to donate to this cause.
Director's Message: It’s hard to believe we are talking about summer when we haven’t really had much of a spring yet, but here I am including all the information for June and the summer programs. Just a reminder that the Annual General Meeting is scheduled to be held at the Day Care on Wednesday, May
Directors Message: Finally, warmer weather! As the warm sun is finally here, please ensure that your child has a sunhat and appropriate clothing for the changing weather. The Annual General Meeting is scheduled to be held at the Day Care on Wednesday, May 25th @ 7:00 pm. I know that the current board is looking for new members, so if you are interested or may know of an individual who could be an asset to the centre then please let me know.

I would like to take this time to thank all of you for the support and kind words you shared with us as we dealt with the sudden loss of Nathan. It has been a very emotional and difficult experience for us staff and all those who came to know him. I am amazed at how well the staff worked through it and supported each other, while continuing to provide exceptional care to all their students. Thank you for the memorial donations, cards, food and chocolates you so generously contributed! Thank you to Amy Morrison for the lovely flowers and the arrangement she provided for his service on behalf of all of Nathan's friends at Day Care! You all made an extremely sad time more bearable!
Director's Message - It is that time of year when we start longing for nice weather and it can’t come fast enough! We have been very fortunate the last couple of weeks with the spring like temperatures, hopefully this a sign that Spring is just around the corner. With the thawing ground our play yard can be very muddy in places, so please supply your child with the appropriate clothing. Splash pants and rubber boots are ideal when the weather is warm enough and the children do not require being bundled up! Many of the children enjoy the experience of mud and we need to ensure that they are warm and dry.
This year we will be celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Windsor Day Care Centre. The Day Care began operating on Feb 2nd, 1976. We are very proud that we have been offering quality childcare for 40 years. Some of us have been here for much of that time and can hardly believe that so many years have passed. To celebrate our anniversary, it is the plan of the board, staff and fundraising committee to hold some special events throughout the year. We will begin celebrating with a birthday party on Tuesday, February 2nd with the children and staff! We will also be hosting an open house on that day from 9am to 11am and from 3pm to 5pm, so you can spread the word and we can show off our awesome facility.
