Director’s Message

Well another year has passed, and here it is, 2018! A few highlights from the past year included a little work in our yard,  a visit from Little Ray’s Reptile zoo and Mad Science, purchased a van from the Fire Department for local trips (although it is yet to be up and running) and for the most part our centre was full to capacity.

In February we will be celebrating our 42nd year of operation!   Over the years we have provided hundreds of children and families with care and support, and with our team of professional and caring staff we will continue to provide quality childcare for the families of Windsor and West Hants.  Thanks to you all for allowing us the opportunity to nurture and care for your young children!

Director

Please Remember:

  • To provide your child with extra clothing and indoor shoes, labelled please!

  • To provide your child with the essential outdoor clothing! A couple pairs of mittens too, as we are try to go outside twice a day!

  • To keep your child home if he/she is sick, and to call the Centre should they be out for any reason.

  • Immunization Records for your child need to be updated when your children receive new shots!  This is a requirement from the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.  Please submit the dates and type of immunization when your child receives his next shot!

  • We would like the children to arrive no later than 10:00 am. and the centre closes at 5:30!  If you know you are going to be late, please call the Centre so the staff are aware of late pickups.  Policy states that a late fee of $5.00 will be applied for the first 15 mins. and an additional $20.00 for every 15 mins. thereafter.

  • Fees are due on the 1st of each month,  a $15.00 fee is added if not received by that day and again on the 21st if not paid.

Dates to Remember

  • Jan 2nd – New Year’s Day,  Centre Closed

  • Jan 3rd – first day back to elementary school

  • Jan 17th – Early Dismissal for elementary school- no Kinderschool

Storm Closing

The Day Care will remain open whenever possible.  It may be wise to have alternate child care plan in place before the nasty weather is upon us. In the event of extremely nasty weather, please listen to AVR, check our facebook page, or call the centre before venturing out; to make sure we’re open. All this will be done as early as possible, hopefully by 6:00 am.

A Message from our Fundraising Committee

Thank you to all those parents and friends who have been helping out with our fundraising projects!  It was a successful year for fundraising with lots of events taking place. We were able to plant a number of trees thanks to the donation from Bloom Nursery’s, provide the children with a play boat and upgrade the surface areas and sand pit.  With a delay of the initial plan we did not begin any major projects, but work will commence in the spring.  We have well over $20,000 to put into the yard so that is a great start for the projects we wish to add to the yard.   A fundraising/yard committee meeting will be held in the near future, so watch for the posting once a date and time is decided.

To keep up with ongoing events at the daycare, be sure to check out our new website, windsordaycare.ca and also our facebook page.

Happy New Years from all the staff and children here at the

Windsor Day Care!
